– things i want to remember, always –
4 months old today! so many things happened during the past month. apart from flying across the ocean back and forth, and proving yourself to be an immaculate traveller – chilled, easy going and curious -, there were loads of personal achievements on all different levels. you grew up to 66cm. your cooing (or should i say, talking?) now is more like singing, with elongated vowels and extended refrains made by your little lips twisting in peculiar shapes, as if tasting the sounds. delicious bubbles of all sizes are the perfect accompaniments to your songs. this month you found your feet and you are fascinated with your discovery, trying to grab the toes with your little fingers (right hand is making more success than left one). grasping in general is the thing now, be that my hair, my fingers with bright manicure, a burpie, or a toy. sucking on things is another, where the most preferable objects are (in the order of preference): your own little paws, my fingers, wrists, and biceps, which you bite ferociously and with pleasure. teething is probably to blame, I can almost feel the sharpness of the lower gums coming through. but the fussy time have subsided, and you learnt to fall asleep all on your own – while laying on the side with a pillow popped up to keep you from rolling on your back, paci in your mouth. this major achievement marks the end of swings and rock&plays – you actually prefer to sleep in the center of our big bed, comfortably flat and unrestricted, your arms stretched up. now I can spoon you too, and it’s the most delicious feeling ever. our repertoire of daily activities has expanded to reading board books and playing with hanging toys and rattles. we tried watching cartoons but they make you too agitated, so we will stick to books for now. needless to say, your smiles have been winning over so many strangers on the streets of Barcelona and Milan, and everywhere in between. it brought you a new well-deserved nickname – “Simpatico”, which added to the list with “El Russo” and “Capoccia”, the latter still on the top of the list. (my Russian version of it being “Golovastik”)
